In the 1950s one of the local newspapers ran a series of reports on various villages located in their patch. In 1953 the “Rambling Reporter” descended into Handcross.
Many local villagers featured in the report: Horace Mills (Warninglid), Tom and Louisa Leppard, Jim Longhurst (Slaugham), Giles Loder, Roger Ray, Margaret Briggs (31 Truggers), Bert Robinson.
