Flower Show in Red Lion Field, Handcross (3 of 13)

During the Handcross Flower Show, with sports and the funfair, held in the Red Lion field the maypole dancers are waiting for the music to start. Everthing seems to be under control except that I am worried that there are large gaps between some of the performers. Goodness knows how it all turned out, but the pattern of the ribbons on the pole may be somewhat awry!
The Large Version shows a close up. I did not expect to recognise anybody but I am fairly certain that the girl nearest the camera is my aunt, Betty Longhurst.

I see in the newspaper report there was a "Sack Race (Open)".
Does that mean that there might also have been a closed sack race where the athletes were sewn inside?
