Handcross School sports day 1957 (1 of 4)

Another year and another sports day for Handcross School in the recreation ground.
One of the outstanding performances took place in the high jump for 10-year-old girls when Gill Leppard jumped 3ft 11ins, an improvement of 2 inches over the previous record.
The Large Version shows Mrs Phyllis Benn presenting the trophy to Gill who was representing the winning team from Norman House.
Select Open Document to view a newspaper cutting of the event. Unfortunately, the second column, which contained the names of the winners and runners up, has not survived the last 61 years.
