1st Slaugham Scouts fete

This photograph from 1957 is the only item I can find in the archives relating to the Ist Slaugham Scout Troop’s fete held in the yard of Worth Engineering in Brighton Road, Handcross by courtesy of the proprietor, George Pattison.
It shows assistant scoutmaster, Sid Sargent, chatting to the troop’s president, Mrs Eveline Warren from the Hyde.
On 21st June 1958, the Handcross and District British Legion organised a fete in the recreation ground. Many village organistions and clubs were invited to provide entertainment and refreshments and these are listed in the newspaper cutting which can be viewed by clicking on Open Document.
The photograph shows the Handcross Scouts manning the barbecue. From the left they are Rodney Pattison, Norman Leppard. David Knape, and Barry Ray.
The Large Version shows a cutting from another newspaper with David Knape and Barry Ray sharing a joke!
