The Slaugham Archive
Handcross Self-Build Association celebratesOver the period 1982/83 twelve members of the Handcross Self-Build Association built themselves houses to the south of Covert Mead. The group valued each house at the then astonishing figure of £50,000!
The photograph shows the twelve members of the group celebrating the completion of the project with Roger Ray, Chairman of the Slaugham Parish Council. There remain a few finishing touches to complete and some landscaping.
A short video of the building work can be seen at picture #926.

Henry, I believe your house, plot 5, was one of the staggered pairs and that it was set back from the road.
The picture above is showing plots 11/12 (19/21 West Park Rd) with the concrete batcher in the garden of plot 12 and a white Renault 4 on the drive of plot 11.
