The new estate of Windmill Platt in Handcross

Further to picture #1502 the photograph shows a view of the earthworks undertaken in the early days of the construction of The Forge and Windmill Platt in Handcross.
Beyond the contractor’s white vans stands Chodds Farmhouse with the pollarded trees on the roadside. To the left are the two cottages, one of which used to be Les Moore’s “Devonshire Dairies”, and now the home of “Sabrina’s Sweet Things”. On the exterior wall can be seen the inverted “V” indicating the roof line of the commercial building which was demolished to provide room for the road entrance to the new estate. See picture #423.
The photograph was taken from a summer house which may have been located at the bottom of the garden for Archpool, hidden by the trees on the right.
The Large Version shows a view of the summer house taken from the High Street.
